So, it’s confession time. I gotta be honest with you — I’m really not a YouTube expert. I don’t actually drive a BMW, and I don’t really have a multiple six figure business.
One of the most common question I get is “How are you a YouTube expert when you only have 3,000 subscribers?”
So here’s the truth about how exactly I built my business on YouTube.

I don’t build my business off of views or sponsorships (obviously), I build it using micro channels. These are YouTube channels that are used to target a specific search phrase.
For example, “how to stop my dog from barking” is a search phrase that someone could type into Google or YouTube. For this, I would register a brand new YouTube Channel with the name, How To Stop My Dog From Barking.
The reason why I do this is that it is a lot easier to rank within YouTube and Google when you create a video around that channel’s name.
So, the way that I make my money is by ranking at the top of certain search engines by targeting specific keyword phrases, construct videos around them, rank it, and then recommend an affiliate product that has to do with the keyword.
I went from one of these micro channels that make me roughly $200 per month and scaled it to hundreds of these channels. And all I would do is create one video for each of these channels, work a little bit of my magic to rank my video at the top, and then pretty much never worry about it again.
There are other ways to build a business on YouTube with channels called Brand Channels. These are where you build a significant following by providing a lot of value to your audience. This method takes a lot longer than the method that I use with micro channels.
